Official 2008-2009 HMFH Rules

Rules Meeting

There is no formal rules meeting.  Rules are established by the commissioner and players have the ability to  question any rule and put it to a vote before the season has started.  Once the draft is completed rules can not be changed unless a situation arises that is not addressed in the rules.  Then a rule may be added for only that situation and must pass a league vote before approved.
 Voting
Voting will work as follows; Rules will be voted on by all owners. To alter a rule you must have a majority vote (6-4, 5-4, 4-3, etc). At least 5 owners must vote either yes, no, or abstain on a rule change for it to even be considered. Any owner may abstain from voting.  To abstain means your vote does not go towards yes or no (a null vote).  To abstain counts towards the minimum 5 votes.  Each Null Vote does not count as a vote for or against a new rule.  Each Null Vote will drop the number of voters by one (10 to 9, 9 to 8, etc).  In the case of a tie, the old rule will stand.
 Websites
All scoring and statistic keeping will be done by Yahoo!.  All historical data and official rules will be found on HMFS @ www.hmff.net.  The full list of Yahoo!’s default rules can be found at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/hockey/rules/.  The league website at Yahoo! is http://archive.fantasysports.yahoo.com/nhl/2008/13179.
 Money
At this time there is no money involved in this league
 Draft
The draft will be held on an agreed upon date.  The draft will be done on line via Yahoo!’s website.  The draft order is randomly picked by Yahoo! approximately 30 minutes before the draft.  This draft order will be the order for the entire draft.  The order will snake each round (1-6, 6-1, 1-6, etc)  The draft will be 20 rounds.  All roster spots must be filled during the draft.
 Rosters
Rosters will consist of 20 active players and 2 IR spots.  There are not restrictions on how many of each position you have on your roster.  You also do not have to have your roster full, only on draft day.
 Lineups
Lineups will consist of 3 Centers, 4 Wingers, 4 Defensemen, and 3 Goalies.  Lineups may be changed daily.  Position eligibility is determened by Yahoo!.
 Scoring
Scores run from Monday thru Sunday.  There are 19 categories used in scoring.  You play your opponent head to head in each of those categories.  The team with the higher/lower (depending on category) total earns a Win in that category the other team earning a Loss.  If the teams tie in totals of a category then both teams earn a Tie.  Each Win, Loss, and Tie at the end of the week goes towards your totals in the standings.

The stat categories for offence are: Goals (G), Assists (A), Points (P), Plus/Minus (+/-), Penalty Minutes (PIM), Powerplay Goals (PPG), Powerplay Assists (PPA), Powerplay Points (PPP), Shorthanded Goals (SHG), Shorthanded Assists (SHA), Shorthanded Points (SHP), Game-Winning Goals (GWG), Shots on Goal (SOG)

The stat categories for defense are: Wins (W), Losses (L), Goals Against (GA), Goals Against Average (GAA), Save Percentage (SV%), Shutouts (SHO)
 Restrictions
For each position you may only start a player in that position 82 times during the year.  Any player started in a position once that 82 game limit is met their stats will not count towards the totals for that week.  You must have at minimum 3 goalies start each week.  If you fail to meet this minimum then all goalie stats for that week will not count.
 Transactions
Transactions consist of trades and pickups.  Pickups are on a first come, first serve basis.  When picking up a player the transaction is effective for the next days lineup.  There is a two day window after the completion of a trade that the league may vote against the trade if they feel it is unfair.  If enough owners vote against a trade, it will be vetoed with the players returning to their original teams.  Once beyond this time frame only the commissioner can void a trade.  There are no deadlines of any kind for pickups or trades.
 IR Spots
If a player is listed as IR eligible by Yahoo! then you may move that player from your active roster to one of the two IR spots.  Once that player is no longer IR eligible you must either move him back to your active roster or drop him before you can make any other transactions.
